Let's take a closer look at Kartik's argument.
Your team should focus on digital marketing. Our target audience increasingly spends time online. Also, digital marketing makes it easier to track the success of ad campaigns.
The argument contains three claims:
- your team should focus on digital marketing
- your target audience increasingly spends time online
- digital marketing makes it easier to track the success of ad campaigns
Claims are the basic building blocks of arguments. The important thing about claims is that they can be either true or false. For example, it could be true or false that your team should focus on digital marketing. Similarly, it could be true or false that potential customers are increasingly spending time online.
One of the three claims in Kartik's argument is special: the claim that your team should focus on digital marketing. This is the claim that the argument tries to convince you of. We call this claim the "conclusion" of the argument.
